Colchester Cottage

The owners of Colchester Cottage wanted a warm, rustic feel for their bungalow holiday let. Their existing furniture included pieces with sentimental value, so the brief was to combine those familiar belongings with new furnishings rather than start again.

We began with video conversations to understand their preferences and the pieces they wanted to retain. A grandfather clock and small grand piano were important features of the scheme, alongside the vibrant colours already on the walls.

New selections needed to sit comfortably with those colours and statement pieces. The living and dining spaces brought different textures and eye-catching details together, while the conservatory offered a relaxed setting overlooking the back garden.

Keeping meaningful furniture can give an interior its character. If you are planning a similar project, share photographs and measurements of the pieces you love early in the brief. Our residential interior design service and holiday-let furnishing service explain the support available for different types of property.
